Here's their MVC patch (http://pastebin.com/qZ1xSmuc). I have not reviewed a single line of it, and it'll likely require significant changes before final integration to mainline x264, but it's what they gave me.

Disclaimer about Blu-ray Encoding
Blu-ray discs including video encoded by Accelcoder X have been tested and are compatible on most devices, but it is not guaranteed to play on other playback device.


Why include this disclaimer if x264 is BD compatible?
I'm a bit confused, if this is a professional encoder and is... " a Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D standards compliant H.264 encoder designed for professional use" - then why include this disclaimer?

Most likely because they haven't tested on every Blu-ray player in existence, and they don't want to offer a legal guarantee/warranty as such.

is so, can we expect to see that code merged with x264 proper?

No commercial licensee of x264 has modified it to run on any sort of Cell CPU. If they had, the code would have already been made public.

Tested the trial version. It is in fact a (bugged, but it's in beta stage) GUI built on top of a (modified) libx264 (114). There are no userdata on the encode (encoding parameters nor x264 revision used) so I cannot see which parameters was set for e.g. psy-rd, aq, aq-strength and so on. Basic parameters can be changed by the user, some others are grayed out and others are not available at all compared to the CLI (mbtree, trellis, me, psy-rd, aq etc) probably because they're too much specific.
It is a good starting point actually for a good GUI. Segment encoding and/or the possibility to change something after the first encode (zones for example) is actually not supported (don't know if it will support it in later releases)

Because it's probably no near to be 3D BD compliant yet, so they don't want to people jumping and using it for production.
They don't say it has been verified by BD verifies- just plays on some players- this is less than pure x264.

For 3D you have to put it through both Sony and Panasonic verifier, as there are still issues with playback on certain players.

It can be nice product if they finish development and sell it at realistic price.

Or any of their PDFs material, anything at all about Accelcoder X.
