I was not sure that this is a bug or a new feature so I decided to start a new thread. I guess I need a tutorial on how subtitles work in BDRB. I have done hundreds of blu ray backups with this great piece of software with very few problems. I always do a BD25 Movie Only backup. I look at the rip in my BD player and it will show me if any of the subtitles are defaulted on. I have it keep all English subtitles because I never knew which of them might be used as a forced subtitle if nothing was defaulted. Maybe this is wrong. Should I only keep 1? This has never been a big problem before because it is generally easy because there are only a couple of choices. Until Star Wars IV. This sucker has 30 subtitles, 6 of which are English. My player shows that the very last subtitle is one of the English ones (they are not grouped together) and it is defaulted on. OK...so in BDRB I kept all 6 of the English subtitles and defaulted the last one in the list on. WRONG...it turns out I should have defaulted the second one in the list. So the bottom line is that the order of the subtitles shown in BDRB may or may not be the same order that the players show them. Any ideas on how to deal with this? Thanks in advance for any help.

Keep all english subtitles or all subtitles. They are so small that there really isn't a need to worry about it. It really doesn't matter (in most cases) which is the default -- forced subs will work no matter which stream they are in.

Yup...as I wrote, that is what I normally do. I was mostly wondering about how you get the order that BDRB displays them in the stream list. The order that the player shows them and the order that appears in BDRB seem to be different. In Star Wars IV, the sixth english sub was defaulted on but it turned out that it was the second one in the list in BDRB. But, in Star Wars I the sixth in the list was the sixth in BDRB. Go figga.

It is displayed in the order of the PID. That's how you player should do it as well.
