View Full Version : audio reduction?

hi
I am deaf, so I can not determine for myself if the family is just nitpicking or what they claim is true.
I just got a complaint that original blu-ray's sounds better than the ones I copy and shrink with bd-rb. And most of the time I also use Clone bd bd to remove extras and warning. I don't use the advanced feature of clown bd bd copier to remove audio.
Upstairs we have a new sound system that utilized the hd-ma blu-ray audio.
they say "why can we hear audio better, or more apparent from all speakers, than the ones you copy". Personally I think it's just a coincidence with the type of movie they are watching.
But I was curious and was wondering what you's think.
In BDRB audio encoding options I have all Unchecked except "Keep HD audio for BD25 encoding" which leaves it untouched right?
Is BRB or clown bd bd responsible for sound reduction in surrounding speakers vs. originals, even when I have "Keep HD audio" selected in options?
or are they just looking to far into it.

Never preprocess source as this known to cause all kind of problem with the disc. Like the one you described know. Ripped disk to floder and let BD RB process it rather than processing with clown bd first.

I can't say what happens with ClownBD -- but I can say that whomever is saying the audio is different is probably only imagining a difference.
If you are doing a BD-25 backup and your settings are as you describe -- I can further add that the people saying so are completely bonkers -- because your copy is bit-for-bit identical to the original.

ya, dude was in a weird mood...He has a speaker on his right, and left, and 2 behind him. He pointed to left speaker, which is near him, and said, "why can i hear it from here with the original, but not copies" without watching the copy to verify. I will copy it and make him watch it, with the volume up, and see what he says.
I do a lot of older titles from 80's, 90's and maybe those movies don't utilize all speakers as good as new movies, even if they are 5.1 dts (not sure of this.)
@HWK - are you saying i do BDRB first, then clown bd bd copier after, is the right way to do it? I like to remove the extras (when there's over 1GB.)

They do the test in the same conditions, right? Same room, same movie (org and copy), same gear, same audio track (you said you didn't remove any audio)?

Got him to test in same conditions this morning. He said it was perfect, the same. lol...
Starting a thread probably wasn't necessary, but he just ticked me off and had to get your input(s).
I know I do it good..but with the audio, there's always some uncertainty, for me.
Or rather I know "BDRB" do it good :)
and I don't think clown bd bd copier would alter the audio in anyway, it just edits the play titles. at least I hope.
I can't use clown bd after I shrink it. I want to reduce the size a little bit before BDRB, not after, lol.
Cheers :D

you can make BDRB output a different size than BD25.
1)load up disc in CownBD Copier -- untick all the menu and main movie MPLS, hit the ImgBurn button. In ImgBurn, go to Advanced Input mode. click on the drop window and a pop out window comes up. at the bottom it will tell you how much is being used by these extras that you can cut later. close out ImgBurn and ClownCopier (or hide them)
2)Load up that movie in BDRB, use a custom output size over standard BD25 by somewhere close (but to be safe, a bit under) the total size of extras reported in ImgBurn in step 1. so if it was 3 GB of extras, add 3 GB to what jdobbs uses for a standard BD25 output. make sure to enable custom output size from drop down menu "Settings"->"Output Options"->"Custom Target Size", and also go to
setup popup window and add 3 GB (or whatever is getting blanked later on your disc) to usual BD25 target size.
3)run BDRB
4)load the BDRB final product into clown BD Copier, remove extras
5) make ISO or BD25 in ImgBurn

hi
And most of the time I also use Clone bd bd to remove extras and warning. .
I'm able to do the same thing with the "movie only" option in BDRB. Perhaps my anydvd settings also helps
