Could anyone tell me how high the cpu utilization is with Quicksync via the IMSDK encoder under Win 7 ?
If i look @ all the reviews about QuickSync i could bork on the floor their are more Advertising for 3rd Party ISV Software then anything else :(
I don't find a answer about the rest CPU utilization (CPU utilization after GPU Decoding) the only interesting things i found in reviews are from Tomshardware and especially XBitlabs
Tomshardware:
The result is fairly compelling. Without acceleration enabled, the iPad profile transcode took 1:35, tying up a Core i7-2600K at roughly 30% utilization. With Nvidia’s card installed, utilization jumped to 50%, but the job finished almost 20 seconds faster. A Radeon HD 6870 turns back lower utilization numbers and better performance results. But the Quick Sync-optimized path is most impressive, wrapping up in 41 seconds and barely touching the processor cores at all.
Xbitlabs:
For example, the screenshot above shows that transcoding a 1080p H.264 movie into lower resolution and lower bitrate for viewing on an iPhone 4 uses only 15-20% of the CPU. But the most impressive thing about it is that the CPU in this case doesn’t even switch from the power-saving mode and works at a lowered frequency of 1.6 GHz.
Someone has more experience maybe with direct Encoding without any Scaling Raw->Final and the rest utilization :) ?
And yes i got a Sandy Bridge system but Intel Decided that they doesn't want to support XP anymore ;)
