Need a help regarding megui

I am new to use megui... i have two questions my first question is when i m updating megui audio presets n video prests r updating bt in video presets the x264 files i cant see??


my second question is i have movie 1080p the run tym is 3hr 10mins..... i want to encode this movie to 720p 950mb whn i m dong a sample taking 100mb sample encoding to 25mb i m achiving the quality bt when i m dong to 950mb i m nt achieving the quality ...... can any one please help me this...

I don't think the X264 presets are being used any more, now MeGUI has a target play back device option for x264.

If you're encoding to a target file size the encoder takes the total number of bits it can use for the entire video and distributes them in such a way as to keep the quality consistent. Your sample may not be representative of the entire video or it's duration mightn't be representative of the entire video's duration (for the file size of the sample).

950MB is probably on the small side for a 720p video and one which is over three hours long. Unless you really, really need to stick to a particular file size for some reason it's easier just to use single pass encoding. You'll have no control over the file size, but you'll know exactly what the quality will be and the encoding job will take a lot less time. Standard CRF values used for single pass encoding range between about 18 and 24. The lower the value, the better the quality and the larger the file size. It's personal choice but I always use CRF 19 for DVD encodes and CRF 20 for 720p encodes. If I had to guess, 2GB (or maybe more) would be the "average" file size for a 720p CRF20 encode, but of course it depends on the type of audio you include. I'm pretty sure I've encoded BluRay video to 720p and the file size hasn't been much over 1GB, but I know using the same CRF value and the same type of audio some encodes have topped 4GB.
