View Full Version : Choppy video playback unless I force single core (AMD)

Hello.

I built a HTPC with the following components:

-Biostar TA785GE 128M 6.0
-AMD Athlon II X2 250
-AMD Radeon 6450
-Windows 7 64bit
-MPC-HC

After lots of testing and grief, I found that if I didn't disable one of the cores in the BIOS, all video would playback choppy almost 50% of the time.

When bringing up the Stats on MPC-HC, the Clock in Frame rate (image below for reference) is very erratic, going up and down instead of being at 100%.

I "fixed" this behavior limiting the CPU to a single core in the BIOS, but this is useless as I need the second core for some HD material that's incompatible with DXVA.

Do you guys know what the problem can be? I figured this out way after warranty date, and I'm not sure RMA'ing it will fix anything for me. I tried under/overlocking/volting for testing, nothing worked.

Any feedback is appreciated. :thanks:
