I`m glad to see MKV getting a such famous container at all, and I love to see that it gets those popular.
But there is one thing I don`t like ...
3D-Videos that I want to put in MKV
I dont find an acceptible way to do this. There are two options you have:
1. Create two MKV-Files (right.mkv and left.mkv)
2. Create an SBS-Video
Point 1 is not optimal, because you need 2 FIles for one Video. The nice Part with MKV is (and that is one big point im using it): You can put all your stuff in one File and not as Bluray-like with 1000 files and folders.
Point 2 is not optimal, because you mostly have to reencode the whole video to make it SBS.
My question is:
Why is it not possible to put both streams (left and right video) in one MKV-File (so you have two videotracks) an set an special value which marks it as 3D. That would be "like" M2TS handles it.
I personaly dont like the actual way with MKV in that point. 3D gets more and more greater in acceptance, it would be fine to get a nicer workaround with MKV. In the moment I dont touch my 3D-Bluray to backup them with MKV.
Is there something planed to get a better handlich with MKV (MK3D) ?
