ac3spdif.exe (http://horman.net/ac3spdif.exe) (6656 bytes - requires MSVC++ redistributable (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5555))
ac3spdif is a simple (very simple) command line tool to capture, and at the same time verify, AC3 streams over SPDIF.
Enter a filename, select an audio source, and it will start recording. It's so simple that it may sometimes fail to start recording - just restart it and try again.
Once recording it will display the current stream parameters and any errors that occur, and will only record frames that pass CRC checks.

PS Apparently due to changes in audio handling from Vista onwards, ac3spdif (probably) won't work on Vista or Windows 7.
