View Full Version : Blank titles in BD-RB?

Hi guys. When I right click on an item in BD-RB I see an item that says blank but I can't select it. Is the ability to blank 'junk' enabled yet?

Also, I have it set up to remove all but English audio. Is there away to see what effect this has on the source size before compressing?

if you can't select it, is it added then? Cmon logic thinking. It's just a placeholder for something that will soon (tm) be added

I wasn't sure if it only worked on certain types of streams/sources or if it was a 'hidden' feature that needed to be enabled in the settings. Not been keeping up with development recently.

It isn't enabled yet. But I'm hoping to have it soon, along with a "Menus and Movie Only",a "Menus and Extras Only" mode, and a "Blank anything less than x minutes" mode.

Excellent! Just what i was after. That should warrant a second donation! Will there be some sort of disc space indicator to go with the new options to show how much space saved by removing titles and audio? I seem to remember DVD-RB having something similar - where you could preview the video and you could tell it not to encode certain titles etc if I remember rightly.

That would be most excellent. I currently use a multi-step process with multiAVCHD to accomplish Menu and Movie only. Eliminating steps is always a good thing.

Sounds sweet.

LOL - That's the first thought that popped into my head as well. That would be a big one for me.

multiAVCHD does this as well. One neat thing it does is process the stream and present a series of screenshots taken at multiple intervals in a single window. Kinda neat. However, scrolling thru the video in a player window is just as effective.

Please, do allow the ability to multi-select titles to blank. multiAVCHD tortures the user into having to click on each one. In fact auto-selecting all the less then ## minutes would be pretty cool.

And while multiAVCHD provided this blanking feature and I can attest it works well, there is the issue in that it does not work with titles that have multiple main movie streams/branches.

In addition to blanking, another neat feature which is already built into the muxer you use is to be able to cut off specific parts of the stream from front and back. Even if its a simple, select stream, enter cut start and cut end values and then pass these onto the muxer's command line parms. This is useful for cutting lengthy credits and intros from the main movie titles.

Just tested multiAVCHD with what I thought was a simple BR. Expected output size after editing is now 56gb - much bigger than the original! I notice each video seems to appear twice in the list so I assume thats what you mean by not working with "multiple main movie streams/branches".

Can't wait for the BD-RB update - I'm sure it will 'just work' :-)

Yes, exactly, if the output size is double, triple, etc then that is the multiAVCHD issue with trying to blank titles with multiple versions of the movie.

Supposedly, there is a workaround, but you have to go thru hoops doing some manual edits I think with BD-Edit.

Why do some BDs have multiple versions of the same titles? These to me on this disc appear to be identical, same chapters, length, audio?

I tested the output anyway but it wouldn't even play :-(

I tested the output anyway but it wouldn't even play :-( If video is available through more than one playlist, it would be created more than once. For example, you may have a series disc in which an episode can be played by itself, or by choosing "Play All" from a menu. When you run MultiAVCHD against it, you would have two versions (one as a large file and one as several small ones) of all the episodes. The same thing might happen for languages and/or multiple angles.

Makes sense! Hopefully BD-RB will be able to compensate for this?

As long as you don't blank any audio/subtitles from these particular multi mpls files, multiAVCHD copies them as is so this is less likely to happen.
So for trial, if you start with the source Blu-ray, blank only the warnings and adverts, trailers etc... without touching the multi playlist files, then see if the results are not oversized. If not, then run this output through BD-RB and remove the audio/subtitles that are not wanted and you should get the desired results.

Did not realize this, I will have to give it a try since BD-Rebuilder can remove the audio and subtitles.

Not meaning to bother you jdobbs, but hows the next version going with the ability to edit directly in BD-Rebuilder? I have a few backups to do and would rather wait for the new version if its around the corner :-)

I have a few backups to do and would rather wait for the new version if its around the corner :-) I've had company the last couple of weeks and haven't had a lot of free time. I have a few fixes implemented that I should probably release, so I may post a version without blanking in the interim.

Just reading this topic is getting me excited. To blank out extras and keep menus will make my day!

In the meantime you can try out Clown_BD BD Copier (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=154574)

For those of you ready to beta test this feature, its now available as a hidden option (http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1526277&postcount=12911) now.

Please remember its a hidden option and thus in a definite beta stage. It will need to be tested with lots of titles to perfect it. So don't expect to use it and not QC (view your movies) and ensure it works.

Thanks jdobbs!
