I'm thinking of doing some back-ups to MKV. If I select MKV container, 1920x1080, intact audio, will the audio output be HD loseless (i.e. DTS-HD? Being not to swooft on all this, I hope I worded this correctly. Thanks again for all your hard work.:thanks:

afaik thats what "intact" means, no modifying whatsoever

It should be... but because of the way I implemented it you are actually getting the core (non HD) right now. It just happened that way as I couldn't get the HD audio in an MKV to play back on anything at the time I wrote that code.

Of course, as I've said before, you get the exact same audio quality from the core since HD is nothing more than a gimmick... but I know there are those with magic ears who would argue that point so you'll see HD audio in an MKV possible soon. The only reason I hesitate is that almost everyone who uses it will probably complain and submit bug reports that it won't play back (because they don't realize that there are few playback mechanisms that can handle HD other than actual BD players).

Thanks very much for the reply. I tried Makemkv on my BD25s and the only players that I know of that play the "HD" are TMT5 and J.River Media Center. I use XBMC and just the core is played, and as you said, my old ears can't tell any difference. Thanks again.
