I have bought the redux version of Apocalypse Now and I'm having some problems with the audio, i.e. the italian audio is missing (silenced) in the redux version (only the replaced parts) of the film. The problem is that the audio is not switched automatically with the english one while playing, driving me mad with remote control to switch between the two tracks.

The situation is the following:

The italian audio is missing from

00002.M2TS
00005.M2TS
00008.M2TS
00011.M2TS
00014.M2TS
00017.M2TS

I have thought about manually extracting the audio from m2ts but the problem is that I don't know how to fix the overlap. Is there a way to manually force eac3to to use different audio tracks for a mpls? I.e. 00000.m2ts italian, 00002.m2ts english, 00004.m2ts italian and so on? Or is there another smarter way?

You can't do that automatically with eac3to.

There are also the problem to mix 5.1 with 2.0

For me the best option is:

1) decode the full italian and english track to wav

2) Convert the italian to 5.1 or the english to 2.0. Is your option.

3) Replace the Redux parts in the italian wav.

4) Recode to the desired format.

The english audio is present in 2.0 too.

@tormento

Hi!

Why are you willing to keep such a flawed disc?

You should return it to the place of purchase and make both the retailer and the studio aware of this major flaw and demand that it be remedied.
Surely, you're not the only person who's purchased this problematic version...

It is a license problem. Nothing that could be solved easily.

It is a license problem. Nothing that could be solved easily. Huh?

Please explain...

The BD is made like that as the italian version of redux has never been licensed with the older dubbing but only with the new one which is awful. The redux version that has been published has the older italian dubbing for the theatre and none for the redux version. The redux version is made up of original cuts and alternative ones. In the original cuts, i.e. the one that came with the theatre version, the italian is present, in the alternative not.

I hope my english writing is clear enough. =)

Any idea?

Because the different audio formats and number of channels you have to re-encode the audio as tebasuna51 suggested otherwise even if you modify the MLPS properly most decoders/receivers are going to have issues, lucky for you the codecs used are lossless (DTS-HD) or nearly lossless (DTS) so quality is not going to take a hit (specially if you can use DTS-HD or LPCM for your fixed output).
