How to modify a mpg2-file without de/recoding?

Dear experts

I have recorded via digital-sat a movie. It was tranmitted in 4:3-mode with black bands on top and bottom. The transmitter-logo is complete in the upper black band. To remove the logo, I would have to decode the file, apply per example the letterboxfunktion of Avisynth and recode again.
Is there any tool or procedure to get rid of the logo without decode and recode?

No, not if you want a permanent fix. You could letterbox it at playback time by playing the video through an AviSynth script, but I don't think that's what you had in mind.

Thanks for your welcome and your quick answer. I was expecting, there is no solution but had still some hope. I accept that I have to recode to get rid off the logo.

You're not the first to ask this.
Theoretically is possible (but only at block level) but in practice not (yet).
