Can anyone help me obtain a copy of x264 as used by MSU in their 2011 comparison?

From their report I see the version identified as "x264 core:114 r1900 60ef1f". I am baffled by git and can't track this down. Would someone be kind enough to give me some pointers?

I can build the source code but if the actual binary used by MSU is floating around somewhere, that would be great too (Windows 32- or 64-bit)

And there's also an archive of older builds, so you should find the desired revision:
http://mirror02.x264.nl/x264/32bit/8bit_depth/

However I don't see much of a reason why you should use r1900 instead of the latest revision.
Well, except you want to verify the MSU results on your own, of course...

I don't think they submitted r1900 to the MSU test because it was much more tested than others, but because it simply was the latest one, back at that time.

Consequently I don't see a reason to stick with an old revision and miss the latest improvements/fixes, unless you encounter a specific problem with the latest revision...

well tested ? they test some predefined presets that was it and this version if i remember right misses things like --bluray-compat and mbaff

It was just the latest git, not particularly tested.

Understood, but it was at least tested by MSU in terms of quality/performance.

x264 is "tested" by thousands of people from around the world daily - should there any problem occur you can come here and ask whatever you want.
Just listen what Lord Mulder had advised to you - grab the latest build and use it :)

Yes and other than that, there are some regression tests which are run before pushing new commits.
