View Full Version : BD Rebuilder error "Invalid Picture"

Hello jdobbs, first I want to thank you for your work on this excellent program. I've been using BDRB for about 5-6 months now and it's been fantastic. I primarily do BD-25 and the results are amazing.
Any minor issues I encountered early on, were resolved by reading through these threads. One thing I definitely learned, was that overclocking generally isn't a good idea.
Anyway, here's my problem. I haven't used BDRB for a while but I went to use it last night and got "invalid picture" error when I attempted to launch it . When I click the BDRB icon, a dialog box comes up with that message.
I'm using Win 7 pro 64 and I recently made changes to my system from the last time I used BDRB. Don't know if this has anything to do with it but I felt it was definitely worth mentioning.
These are the most recent changes made to my system by me or Windows update:
Replaced my C drive with an SSD, which I cloned over.
Did some recommended tweaks found on the web to improve SSD performance.........disable prefetch, re-route my Temp folder to the mechanical D drive and change the pagefile setting.
Win 7 recent updates were Games for Windows, Visual C++ 2005 SP1 and my Realtek network controller.
BDRB and its support apps like Avisynth etc. are on my D drive. I tried Googling the "invalid picture" error but couldn't find anything useful. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and thanks again for this terrific program.

A simple test would be to install the helper apps located on the first page of this thread to your C drive, since they don't take up much space anyway. Setup BD-RB fresh, as you would for a first time run.

Sorry, but I'm not familiar with that error.

@mt721
Hi!
1) What version number of BD-RB are you using?
2) From where did you get it?
3) Try downloading again

Thanks for all the replies, it's appreciated.
@Capsbackup
That's one of the first things I tried but still the same error.
@setarip_old
I'm using the current version. All my downloads, including the support programs are from the first page of the BDRB bugs thread. I did download BDRB again last night but to no avail.
I've been using the program successfully for months now, this just happened after I changed my C drive to an SSD and made some system tweaks to improve SSD performance. I suspect that somehow, something in my system got overwritten or maybe deleted???
@jdobbs
Now I know I'm in trouble when you are not familiar with this error. That seemed to be the case when I tried Googling it. The only thing I came up with was a reference to an error with VB6 and I don't have a clue about VB6.
Well, looks like I'll have to do my BDRB stuff on my little used, spare PC that is much slower.
Thanks again,
Mike T

Mike T Just a guess, but it's possible that some of the default Windows libraries didn't get loaded with the O/S (System32). The fact that it is a SSD should be invisible or at least inconsequential to the programs that are running.

Figured I'd post an FYI, in case anyone else ever has this happen.
In my OP, I mentioned that I did some tweaks to improve performance on my new SSD. Well, seems like rerouting my Temp folders to my mechanical D drive caused a problem with launching BDRB.
I actually stumbled on this accidentally when I tried to install itunes 64 bit today, it didn't give me the "invalid picture" error but it did fail to install. So, I took a shot and reassigned my TEMP/TMP folders back to default and itunes cranked right up.
More importantly, BDRB launched immediately. Thanks again to all that replied.
Btw jdobbs, just sent a few bucks your way. Thanks again.

Mike T Much appreciated. The donations have gotten few and far between lately.

Thanks to MT721 for this post and jdobbs for a great program. I had made changes to the permissions within my Temp Folder (C:\docs and settings\<account>\Local Settings\Temp) which was causing the same error message of 'invalid picture'.
I had inadvertently removed the local system account I use to access BDRB from the Security tab of the Temp folder while recently troubleshooting an unrelated program that was behaving badly. I got lucky when investigating the ‘invalid picture’ error message and found this post. MT721’s remarks regarding his Temp directory flipped the light bulb on in my head, prompting me to restore access to the Temp folder for my local account.
BDRB launched like a champ.
Since it’s rare to find folk who report solutions to their own issues after posting, I am returning the favor in hopes someone else finds this info useful as well.

hi
thanks again for this great program, jdobbs
anyhow i had some errors doing Goodfellas
I am using BDRB to remove some audio tracks from the main movie.
the settings ini I used keep HD audio but there is no HD audio on this disc. maybe that is the issue.
i suspect more it is because one or two of these m2ts files aren't needed. like the one that the program crashed on m2ts00057.
i previewed each file in mpc-hc and found some strange stuff
there are extras and they are repeated. sort of (only 1 has sound). m2ts00027 i one copy of the extra. m2ts00057 has the same extra play w/o sound. m2ts00058 has the same extra play twice in a row (!?) also like the last one, with no sound
first time i ran the disc BDRB just hung on me.
then i redid it from the start and it closed with error:
here are log and .inf files

since you don't want us to pre-process before BDRB, i use BDRB first, and was then going to do runs at trying to remove these "extra extra" tracks later. after taking out some audio and these unneeded extra repeats, it will fit a BD25 just fine, which is what i want.
but this seems to make BDRB hang on one of the same files i was going to remove after using bdrb.
any thoughts?
should I just try moving these suspected superfluous m2ts files out of the STREAMS folder and then keep trying BDRB?
