I am having trouble encoding this cartoon to H264. It is the cartoon TV series, not the movie.

DXIndex says it is progressive. So when I do 'force film' the video is fine but the audio is out of sync.

If I honor the pull down flags... The video looks like it needs deinterlaced but the audio is just fine.

Am stuck never had this issue before. Anyone is there encoded this TV show ok? If so how?

I recently successfully converted both of my Penguins of Madagascar cartoon strip DVDs to mp4s, h.264 video (dgindex, x264), AAC audio (neroaac) for my kids without encountering any problems.

For what it is worth, I *never* force film in dgindex, even on allegedly progressive material. So much film material just contains a bit of interlaced materials (often in the credits, or in CGI sequences, both often also in unexpected places), that it is just not worth the risk.

Instead, just let avisynth do its things and produce 30 frames-per-second/60 (ok, 59.94)-fields-per-second output and then have your avisynth script worry about how to telecide the film material and how to deal more intelligently with the occasional interlaced sequences.

You should follow kypec's instructions. It's hard to give a specific advice without a sample...

I've checked your sample and it seems like simple interlacing, nothing else.
You can try basic Yadif() deinterlacer or for better quality QTGMC (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=156028).

BTW when DGIndex asked me whether I want to fix the field order I answered "Yes".

That sample is 100% progressive 23.976 (with pulldown flags set so that it produces telecined and interlaced 29.97fps output for DVD). A simple Forced Film in DGIndex is appropriate for that sample. The fact that the audio gets out of synch has nothing to do with it, as long as you encode for 23.976fps and not 29.97fps, thus changing the framerate. Both progressive 23.976fps (Forced Film) and interlaced 29.97fps (Honor Pulldown Flags) output from DGIndex will produce a video of the same length. If your audio is out of synch it's because you screwed up something else.

How is the audio out of synch? By the same little amount all the way through? Simple to fix. By an increasing amount as the video goes along, ending up with a huge difference by the end? A guess tells me you encoded it as 29.97fps. Check the framerate of your H264 encode.
