View Full Version : ffdshow decoding through ReClock quality

Being that I suffer from high frequency hearing loss and tinnitus this may be a moot point. However I'd be interested to know anyhow.

According to various guides when decoding audio via ffdshow (not passthru bitstreaming) to analog out the output should be ticked as 16, 24 and 32bit integer and all the other options left unticked. When the audio is passed to ReClock it should be same as input, 24 bit padded to 32 and Best Sinc Interpolation. However there is an option to change the input to other frequences up to 192Khz. My soundcard will only allow up to 96Kz which I have chosen and I can't really hear much difference to be honest. I generally let ffdshow do DPLII for stereo sources too which may introduce artefacts of it's own. But for 5.1 sources it seems pretty much OK.

By switching ReClock from same as input to 96Khz is it doing any kind of oversampling or have I misinterpreted that?

Here is what I do:
Decode the audio with lav audio. Then insert ffdshow audio processor to do the downmix.
In the processing tab of ffdshow, uncheck everything but 32 float. In the output tab of ffdshow, uncheck everything but 32 float.

I think your reclock settings are spot on though.

I had the same problem once and I had to eventually get it solved by the colleague. Never thought about unchecking 2 float.
