View Full Version : trouble with two audio tracks in mp4

I wasn't sure whether to put this into the Newbie forum or this Audio forum. I got the hang of adding two audio tracks to an mkv file using makemkv or some program (i forget what it was now) but I can't seem to get the same success having two audio tracks within an mp4. This is possible right? Whenever I mux them, the resulting file increases fro 4:59 to 8:18.

I first tried Megui where I made the stereo track as audio 1 and the 5.1 audio track as audio 2

Then I tried using YAMB also with the same results.

Also, when i tried to mux in the untouched ac3 track i don't even get audio. if i encode the audio using nero aac with keeping original channels i can get 5.1 surround sound audio track but i'm not sure if that reduces the quality? i used variable bitrate with a q-rating of 0.4 and got nearly the same kbps as the ac3.

How can I make it so that the default audio is the stereo track but i also have the option to choose 5.1 surround?

I am also struggling greatly with subtitles (which may require a separate thread). I'm using SubRip from the subtitle forum but I just can't seem to get it to work properly. if you can help me with this, a PM would be greatly appreciated.
