i am not restricted to 400mb i can increase till 700mb i do not have any problem but i can not go more than 700mb. tell me the best profile or settings in megui for high quality 720p in just 700mb for 2hours 30minutes movie plez anybudy help me

Why? I don't see any problem. He can make a 4 hour 1080p movie into 100 MB if he wants. Although x264 might crap out when reaching the max quantizer...

No idea. I'm not familiar with GUIs.

However, if you compress a 2.5 hour 720p movie to 400MB you won't be happy with the result.

if you do harsh pre processing heavy degraining denoising maybe some chroma compression you can achieve that with x264 highest compression without problems and in 10 bit without any banding, though don't expect film grain to be preserved and the result will be artificial as it can be also, though many prefer this Digital Look nowadays ;). For something like this though i doubt Megui has a easy to apply preset ;)

150 minutes of 720p in 700 MiB is not a good idea - that's only 652 Kbps, not including audio! Unless it's super easy to encode content like CGI or cel animation, you'd be better off at a lower frame size.

But it's technically feasible. A few tricks that might things more palatable.

Use anamorphic 960x720
Set nr=1000
--preset veryslow or placebo
2-pass encoding with a substantially higher peak like 10 Mbps.
Use something really efficient for audio, like HE AACv2 @ 48 Kbps.


But that would only make sense if you needed to be able to call it 720p for some external reason. 720x480 anamorphic would look better for most real-world content at that bitrate. More pixels only improve quality if they're good pixels!

he-aac v2 @ 48Kbps is crap. Even he-aac v1 @ 48Kbps sounds much better than he-aac v2. If the bitrate is too low, I prefer downmixing to mono and again he-aac v1.

Others have said it, but I'll say it again. You're asking for something that's simply not possible for the vast majority of movies out there.

720p encodes of a full feature can look watchable at a minimum of 2-3mbps in my opinion. This comes out to somewhere around 3 GB for a 2 hour movie. If you must have a smaller size, it's not going to look very good. Period.

If you must stick with a final size of 400 MB -700 MB, you will get a much better result if you simply encode in 480p, or thereabouts.

It seems you really want us to name a MeGUI profile, so I'll take a stab.

Under Encoder Settings click "Config"

1) Select the profile "Unrestricted 2pass Extra Quality"

2) then drag the slider down till it says "Placebo"

3) Click on the "New" button, name your preset (something like "uber-high awesome leet quality") and click "Update". This will save your new preset.

4) You will need to use the bitrate calculator and select your audio file (I would recommend AAC-HE @ 48kbps), as well as your target size of 700mb.

Still, it's going to look terrible. Do yourself a favor and at least downscale it to 540p or 480p (960x540 or 854x480). Depending on the movie you may also benefit from going to an even smaller 360p (640x360).

To squeeze even more out of your encode, you will want to use a noise filter. You will want to select "Medium" or "Heavy" noise under the "Filters" section of the Avisynth Script Creator.

If you still don't know how to do this then I suggest you use Handbrake or seek out some MeGUI tutorials.

720*304 is not "720p".
854*320 is not "720p".
1280*544 is not exactly "720p" either, although close.

Let's choose this last one ... 1280*544 pixels, ~1:30 min playtime, ~550 MB movie; let's estimate roughly that 500 MB of it may be the video part.

500 MB * 1024*1024 B/MB * 8 b/B : 90 min : 60 s/min : ~24 fps : 1280 : 544 ==> ~ 0.046 bppf

0.3 bppf was a convenient "pixel bitrate" for DivX / Xvid.
0.2 bppf may be a convenient "pixel bitrate" for x264.
0.05 bppf is certainly a waste of time and energy. Especially for a movie which seems to be hard to compress, with a lot of action and explosions etc. That will look as bad as a VCD. Just with more screen size.

IMHO, such moviez are already your well deserved punishment. They should teach you not to want such a nonsense even. Apart from being illegal, crews like "scOrp" can't even satisfy their "consumers" with such results.
