View Full Version : Bd-rb difficulty

I have used DVD RB Professional with great success over the years but I seem to be quite out of my depth with BD-RB. I have experimented with the film 'Blow' ripped from my Blu-ray disc with AnyDVD HD 6.7.9.0. Inspect tells me that everything in my set up is OK and I have made no changes to the Setup menu. I end up with a file that produces no sound, there is a yellow line at the base of the picture and the picture quality is poor with an overall green cast to it. I have tried a couple of times with the same result and while obviously I suspect I am making a gross error somewhere I cannot for the life of me see where I am going wrong. Some guidance will be most gratefully appreciated.

My two most recent attempts produced these logs:

Where's the output of inspect.exe ? Probably not using the recommended versions

Uninstall BD-RB, HAALI, AVISYNTH, and FFDSHOW. Then go to the first post of the bug thread and follow the directions exactly. Make sure you use ONLY the versions linked in that post (some newer versions have added problematic bugs).

And make sure you delete the program folder for Haali BEFORE you install the new recommended version! ;)

Thank you all for the swift replies. I was extremely careful to follow the original instructions from jdobbs. I used only the links provided in the first page of the bugs thread and, because I have closely read the forum I was equally careful to follow the instructions again when I uninstalled everything completely with Revo Uninstaller (which I find very reliable) because my first install failed with exactly the same problem as described in my first post. That said I will happily repeat the exercise a third time but I must confess to some anxiety arising from the fact that I have used the links provided twice now and the 'Inspect' report suggests everything is OK. Here is the most recent 'Inspect' report:

- Windows Version: 5.1 [2600]
- AVISYNTH Version: 2.5.8.0, Ok
- HAALI Splitter: Ok
- FFDSHOW: 3326, Ok
- FFDSHOW VC-1 set "disabled", WMP11, Ok
- FFDSHOW MPEG2 set to "libavcodec": Ok
- FFDSHOW AVC set to "libavcodec": Ok
- BD Rebuilder v0.37.0.8, Ok
- X264: Ok
- AFTEN: Ok
- FAAC: Ok
- MP4BOX: Ok
- WAVI: Ok
- TSMUXER: Ok

I know many people have great success with BD-RB and therefore I hesitate to ask the question but is it possible that something else might be wrong in my set up?

Cholas Unfortunately INSPECT can only report what it finds... which doesn't tell you everything. If you have CODEC packs installed, they may not show -- but will still cause issues. If you have other video related software installed it can intercept activities (and never tell you they are doing so) and will cause problems. INSPECT also can't tell you whether the original rip is valid.

What are you using to rip the source?
What are you using to play it back?

I'm using AnyDVD HD to rip to HDD and then transferring the finished file from the BD-RB process to a Western Digital 1.5TB WD15EADS disc which I insert into my Dune HD Max player. The file 'plays' but with no sound, a yellow line at the base of the screen and poor colour with an overall green cast.

Like many people I suspect I do have other video related software and may have codec packs but not anything I've installed myself if I recall correctly. I will try the whole process over again on another computer, which has very little 'other video software', and see if the outcome is any different.

Thank you for your patience and suggestions thus far.

Hi Cholas,

I had a similar problem to yours, where the entire rebuilding process completed with no errors but there was no audio. I tracked the problem down to my using the wrong version of AVISynth. I was using version 2.5.8, same as "Inspect.exe" says that you are using, but is was NOT "Ok". I downgraded to the recommended version, 2.5.7 (using this link (http://www.jdobbs.net/freeware/Avisynth_257.exe) in the "bugs" thread), and the problem went away.

Regards,
Bob

I used only the links provided in the first page of the bugs thread and, because I have closely read the forum I was equally careful to follow the instructions again when I uninstalled everything completely If this were true -- you wouldn't have v2.5.8 of AVISYNTH installed. I missed that in the logs.

From the first page of the bugs thread:2. Download and install AVISYNTH 2.57. If you are a DVD-RB user, it is compatible, so no worry. It is required for BD Rebuilder to work. AVISYNTH v2.57 can be downloaded from http://www.jdobbs.net/freeware/Avisynth_257.exe or from http://www.avisynth.org. BD Rebuilder doesn't object to 2.5.8 -- because some folks have reported success with it -- but it is not the recommended version.

Well spotted Bob. I changed to 2.5.7 and have since run two films and everything worked fine, so many thanks to you.

To jdobbs,: I completely misread/misunderstood your comments about DVD-RB and compatibility with Avisynth 2.5.7 and 2.5.8. Anyway I'm a very happy bunny now and so many thanks to you for yet another great programme.
