EDIT: WHOOPS! The problem was so obvious. I forgot to use the Windows 7 Preferred Filter Tool (http://www.codecguide.com/windows7_preferred_filter_tweaker.htm), so the file was being improperly decoded by the Microsoft H.264 codec, instead of FFDShow. Anyway, I think I'll leave this post here incase someone else does something this stupid.
In the past I've managed to convert Blu-rays to DVD by using MeGUI to generate an AVIsynth script which I then load into the HCenc MPEG2 encoder. This has been working fine, but a month ago I formatted my computer and now I can't remember how I got it to work.
At the moment, after I load my AVS script into HCenc, the encoding works for about 30 seconds before it stops.
Previously I used Haalil Media Splitter and FFDShow Tryouts to decode the VC1, or in this case, H.264 video so that it could be re-encoded with HCenc, but it seems I have forgotten some setting that is stopping it from working.
Does anyone have any ideas what I could be doing wrong that is only letting the video encode for 30 seconds before it just stops? I also noticed that if I preview the script in MeGUI, it plays for a few seconds before crashing MeGUI (it goes to "Not Responding" and never recovers.
I've tried installing and uninstalling FFDShow Tryouts, and the Haali Media Splitter, but it hasn't got it to work properly.
There is one difference with my system, I now have a new graphics card. Is it possible the graphics card is trying to decode the file somehow?
