hey. i have been reading a lot and wanted to know if burning/copying a X-Box game for "educational" :D or personal purposes is possible. i dont have a dvd-burner so i wont know if a direct dvd to dvd-r conversion will work. i read somewhere that the only thing one needs is a cd-reader and cd-writer which can read and write RAW DAO & Sub-Channel Data and software which supports writing in RAW mode with sub channel data. i doubt that the dvd-burners which are out now are capable of doing this. also these are the only software packages capable of doing this and i doubt that they support dvd burners:

Blindread & Blindwrite
Discjuggler
CDRWin
Cd Mate


as for making the x-box dvd's into cd it is virtually impossible as microsoft has taken numerous precautions against hacking/cracking.

nero can burn dvds for sure.

xbox read dvds from outside in.
pcs read dvds from inside out.
when you pop xbox dvd into pc all you get is a small movie w/ xbox logo and then msg saying something like this disk is for xbox only, to play it you need xbox.
so 1st thing you need in order to even think about coping xbox dvds is software and/or hardware can be told to read 2nd "allocation table" where actual game files are stored. after that we'll talk about other encryption/protection.
as far as i know nobody has been able to read game files w/ pc dvd drives.

i was kinda disapointed when i poped halo dvd into my puter..i was expecting to see game files;)...but ok, no game files, but at least ms could put some halo or other game trailers/movies so PC folk could get excited and buy xbox:). but no all they had was stupid 5sec xbox logo movie.

Hey, I don't keep up with the scene ( console anyhow ; ) but i seem to remember reading somebody had successfully made an iso of an xbox game about a month ago or something - there actually was something posted on this forum about it.
