Hi,
I recently got a Panasonic Freeview HD recorder and I can get HD files from it onto my computer using AnyDVD.
Thing is, the recorder produces a DR file that is just a copy of the transmission stream. When copied across, the only player that will play it is VLC and in that player, the audio keeps on fading in and out. VLC reports the following codec info:
Video: H264 AVC (Part 10)
Audio: MPEG AAC (mp4a) 3F2R/LFE, 48kHz
Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic both play the video, but no audio. GOM just dies.
Ideally, I would like to sort the audio problem as these files are awesome. Just recorded Dr Who (for the kids ofc) and the file is about 40% smaller than converting it to another HD format the recorders supports for output, yet the file has normal audio, an audio description track and subtitles!
If I convert the track, the 2.3Gb file goes up to 3.8Gb but I lose the second audio track and the subtitles. It will however play in GOM, WMPC and in VLC, the audio stops fading in and out. The converted file has the same video, but the audio reports as:
A52 (aka AC3)
I have fiddled around with FFDShow, but the audio problem is always there in VLC and nothing else will play the audio in the original file.
Suggestions would be very welcome!
