This is a very interesting article on copy protection:

Here is another great one on Zdnet (better buy your burner soon):

Sorry about that, the second link has been fixed. It is the same one from the main page.

You posted the same link twice. Why don't they give up all of this copy protection BS drop the prices to a more resonable rate like Warner Brothers and MGM want to. Then there will be no need to worry about it. Warner Brothers and MGM proposed to drop the prices of new releases to $10 and older cataloged moves to $5.

To be honest, I really can't be bothered to copy DVDs if it's anything other than a straight DVD-5 copy without having to re-encode. I bought the burner to do paying jobs for clients, and I'd much rather just pay the $20 for a DVD rather than taking the time to futz around with recompressing, stripping stuff out, reauthoring, etc.

Studios oughtta be a little more concerned with mass-produced HK DVDs in my opinion. You can get them just about anywhere.

They are all worried about DECSS etc when the HK bootlegs in most cases are made from analog sources. I still say they need to cut the prices then there would be less of a need to worry about bootlegs or copying.
