x264 cli 1937 32bit compatible multiplexer list

Hi all,

After a lot of test i found the best combo : x264 + Scenarist. If you want fast good menu, you can multiplex in Scenarist and make menu with Multiavchd.

Here's what i have test with x264 cli:

Tsmuxer : es + audio + sub, perfect but tsmuxer don't pass all bd compliance testing (note that most of the time all is ok). His best point is also his price : free :)

Dvdlogic EasyBD : es + audio + sub, 99% of the time you get issue, even if it's a suposed reliable tool which pass the Eclipse Verifier, it's a total mess with x264 (i tested in 576/720p)

Dostudio 1.7 : es + audio + sub, 99% of the time you get issue. This version is outdated but it was the last full functionnal version. Maybe last version is working better but i can't test.

Scenarist 4.5 : es + audio + sub, perfect and pass all Verifier perfectly. Work like a charm with x264

Adobe encore cs 5 : es + audio + sub, work well but a bit hard cause you need a 64bit os and it's a bit hard to learn about how it wants his subtitle format. Notheless there is a trial version.

Btw, all test was done with this command : x264 --bitrate 1100 --vf resize:width=1280,height=720,sar=1:1,method=spline --fps 24000/1001 --force-cfr --ref 6 --preset slower --tune animation --bluray-compat
--vbv-maxrate 10000 --vbv-bufsize 10000 --level 4.0 --keyint 24 --open-gop --slices 1 --colorprim "bt709" --transfer "bt709" --colormatrix "bt709" --sar 1:1 -o number1.264 001.mkv

Can you explain the issues with DoStudio? I was hoping to produce a disc with x264 and DoStudio.

What do you mean "it was the last full functional version"?

What player(s) did you use?

it's a total mess with x264What mess? please be more specific. Which verifier you use ?

I made some disc with Dostudio 1.7 because you have a full trial version (only factory formating is not possible). His authoring ability is very powerful but the muxer is not compatible with x264. Dostudio made a list of 'valid' encoder on his site. Valid doesn't mean better than other imo, scenarist is a lot used in proffesional production and it's a more versatil tool which accept x264 without a prob. The best friend of dosutio 1.7 is Sonic cinevision encoder but it's a very expenssive tool and it's not really good when you need low bitrate. Nonetheless it's a great tool if you can give to him at least 10.000 bitrate. Here's the list of 'ok' encoder for Dostudio : http://www.netblender.com/main/resources/wikipapers/blu-ray-encoding

The last dostudio version is 2.3 but i was unable to mux anything cause a bug from the trial i guess, the mux didn't even start and the project was a simple test with one media h264...Not really a good first impression for me...

To shon3i : I used my own tests with x264, pegasys master 5 and i was unable to make something clean in Dvdlogic EasyBD. Even with ultra safe setting, i get issue in the final video. With the same media multiplexed in scenarist or tsmuxer it was perfect. Dvdlogic EasyBD is not reliable at all that's why i don't like it. If you succeful multiplex an x264 file + ac3 + sub, plz post the original and the final media + the cli you used in x264, until i see that, Dvdlogic EasyBD is imo useless. Btw, about subtitle this tool don't like usual thing, there is only a few few tool compatible or you need to modify xml file manually from other soft...

Not true. Discs have been created and replicated using x264 and Dostudio. The list on their site is very old.

Which version of Dostudio ? The list is maybe old but in my own test it doesn't work with the 1.7, maybe newer release but as i said , i was unable to test it.

Ok it's known that EasyBD currently have problem with XML/BDN subtitles, but they are probably already work to correct this little bug. And this have nothing with x264 or other streams, and also is not mess, since passes verification. Until they are not fix XML/BDN support you have two other option SST and PES, which you can get from all famous subtitle tools, eg Lemony Pro, Subtitle Workshop, MaestroSBT and many more.

And please stop confusing people around here.

Ok it's known that EasyBD currently have problem with XML/BDN subtitles... EDIT: and they are fixed BDN support and added SUP, so nothing more problems
My initial try with "fixed" EasyBD Lite vs. tsMuxeR and one x264 video, AC3 audio, and sup track yields jerky motion and a much larger (oversized) m2ts file. I don't have the tools to analyze what might be wrong (MediaInfo shows Overall bitrate of the EasyBD as 5421Kbps vs 5402Kbps for good tsmuxer, and Max Overall as 48.0Mbps vs 35.5Mbps for good tsmuxer) but it appears something is (still) very wrong indeed? :confused:

I didn't test all cases, i just remux some VC-1+DTSMA+SUP's+chapters, and it came out normally sized and normally playback. I not tested with AVC yet

By the way, our users muxed tons of AVC and other formats and all passed Eclipse test. There were also many real Blu-rays compiled in EasyBD... in well known companies ....

I actually don't have the time to make a new test with x264cli and Easybd but if someone want to post a test with original file + encoded media it will be great (keep in mind to dwl the last EasyBD version on the dvd logic site).

Anyone for the job ? :)
