I tried asking in the official thread but I guess my problem is too stupid to get answered, I hope someone can help me in this thread. :p
For those who don't know, the Intel Sandy Bridge had a problem with the SATA II ports. I had one of those motherboards affected by the problem (revision B2), so I replaced my one with the revision B3 that solved the problem.
Since the motherboards are indentical, a format wasn't needed but I did it anyway.
After reinstalling the OS and the software (including MPC-HC), I noticed that EVR CP doesn't work. I get a black screen with only audio. Before the format it worked fine. I have the exact same hardware/software.
Switching to EVR Sync solves the problem, but is it better or worse than EVR CP? And why doesn't EVR CP work anymore?
Don't know if it matters but I use Bicubic A=-1.00 (PS 2.0) and Sharpen Complex 2.
By the way, I have a similar problem with DXVA. When enabled, I get a black screen with only audio, the only difference from EVR CP's problem is that in this case the black screen flashes a little.
Anyway it's not a big problem since I wouldn't use DXVA with my CPU which should be powerful enough. I guess it is an incompatibility with Sandy Bridge CPUs.
Some details:
Intel Core i5 2500
Intel P67 motherboard
ATI 5770 with 11.3 Catalyst (driver only version)
Windows 7 SP1 64-bit
MPC-HC 1.5.2.3026 x64 BE mod (with installer)
DirectX 9 updated
video formats: mp4, mkv and avi
Please help me as I am not an expert, thanks.
