View Full Version : MPC-HC - EVR CP doesn't work

I tried asking in the official thread but I guess my problem is too stupid to get answered, I hope someone can help me in this thread. :p
For those who don't know, the Intel Sandy Bridge had a problem with the SATA II ports. I had one of those motherboards affected by the problem (revision B2), so I replaced my one with the revision B3 that solved the problem.
Since the motherboards are indentical, a format wasn't needed but I did it anyway.
After reinstalling the OS and the software (including MPC-HC), I noticed that EVR CP doesn't work. I get a black screen with only audio. Before the format it worked fine. I have the exact same hardware/software.
Switching to EVR Sync solves the problem, but is it better or worse than EVR CP? And why doesn't EVR CP work anymore?
Don't know if it matters but I use Bicubic A=-1.00 (PS 2.0) and Sharpen Complex 2.

By the way, I have a similar problem with DXVA. When enabled, I get a black screen with only audio, the only difference from EVR CP's problem is that in this case the black screen flashes a little.
Anyway it's not a big problem since I wouldn't use DXVA with my CPU which should be powerful enough. I guess it is an incompatibility with Sandy Bridge CPUs.

Some details:
Intel Core i5 2500
Intel P67 motherboard
ATI 5770 with 11.3 Catalyst (driver only version)
Windows 7 SP1 64-bit
MPC-HC 1.5.2.3026 x64 BE mod (with installer)
DirectX 9 updated
video formats: mp4, mkv and avi

Please help me as I am not an expert, thanks.

Open video decoder properties, and in the output video format on the right move NV12 up to the top and check it to be enabled.
or
Try one of the builds from here http://www.mediafire.com/?r367kbp7p9but

Thanks for your answer.
Unfortunately both solutions don't work (build mpc-hc64 tester dfr3008.7z). :(

can you please show a capture of the video decoder properties window, and of the filters list (when playing a file with black screen)

open video filter properties window, press PrtScn (on keyboard), open image editor, crop, post :)
and another one with the context menu with filters submenu open

OK, but from the internal filters (transform filters), which one do I have to select?
If I look in the properties of the playing video, it's written MPEG4 Video (H264) (most of my videos are in this format, other are in .mkv with Xvid video and have the same problem), but in the transform filters there is H264/AVC (FFmpeg), Xvid/MPEG-4 and MS MPEG-4, which one do I have to select?
Again, sorry for being so noobish. :(
Anyway here is the filters submenu:

from the filters submenu, click on MPC Video Decoder and you should see a filter properties window

1. try to uncheck all except NV12 (disable YV12,YUY2,RGB32)
2. try to select another resizing method (try with one without shaders/PS)
3. try to disable shaders (both normal and screen space)

if this doesn't fix it, config mpc to save config to file, clean personal infos from file (last played files I think) and post it
i'll try to use it and reproduce the problem

Nothing worked.

I had to run mpc-hc64.exe as administrator otherwise it didn't save the .ini file. The only thing I removed from it was the default folder where it saves the screenshots.
I saved it as .txt because it doesn't let me attach .ini files.
Also remember that I'm using the BE mod, but I don't know if it matters.

I'll try it tonight when I get home. Maybe in the meantime the attachment is approved.
The problem happens with any type of video streams (h264,xvid,mpeg2,vc1...) or only with some types?

Edit:
Now it works!
I uninstalled the previous version, then I installed 1.5.2.3030 and now it works.
For some reason, only the BE mod doesn't work, I'll try to undertand the problem in the MPC-HC thread.
Thanks for your help. :thanks:
