There was this HD channel which broadcasted Legacy quite a few weeks before the BD/DVD release, and a rip was floating on the internet. Then, I found some subs, translated them to Chinese BY HAND, and used 100% open-source software to transfer it to DVD: Here are the params:
ENCODING:
Software: Avidemux
Codec: MPEG-2 (mpeg2enc)
Mode: 2-pass 4000 MB file size
Matrix: KVCD
Filters: Lanczos3 resize from 720p to 720x576, pulldown from 23.976 fps to 25 fps
Audio: AC3 384 kbps Dolby Digital 5.1
MASTERING
DeVeDe with no menu, running on Debian Sid
My goal is to create a better quality disc than the official version. The subs are already much more accurately translated. Is it actually possible to exceed the quality of the official DVD release (BD out of Q). I am not trying to pirate the movie and sell it or something, it is just so exciting to create the best encode of Legacy in the world!!!
P.S. I can post a 1 minute sample if you want, but no full movie, sorry. I am NOT A PIRATER!!!
