is it possible to replace the audio track of an avi (divx3 video + mp3 vbr audio) when i only have the original mix (as an avi file) and the new mp3 track? if yes, how could i accomplish that?

Couldn't you clarify - It's not very clear to me, what you're trying to accomplish.

It sound like something you easy can do in nandub - but I'm not sure ;)

ok, sorry for the confusion. suppose i've encoded and muxed an avi using nandub. now i want to replace the soundtrack with a new one. but i don't have the original avi (encoded by nandub, without sound) anymore. i just have the finished work (avi with video and sound) and the new soundtrack, as mp3. what i'd like to do is to demux the finished avi back into video and sound and then remux the video with the new soundtrack.
i hope i made it clear enough now.

load avi in nandub, video = direct stream copy, audio = mp3 audio & direct stream copy, f7 to save to a new file. done. Now.. you have 2 audio tracks.. so make sure that the one you want to keep is set to direct stream copy and avi audio, and the one you want to replace to mp3 audio(selecing that will bring up a selection box where you select your new mp3) and direct stream copy

sorry but i haven't exactly understood what's the procedure. let's say i have an avi file (file1.avi) which contains the video stream (let's call it VS) and only one audio stream (AS1). the avi was muxed with nandub as per the guide, from an avi (video.avi, containing VS only) and an MP3 file (audio1.mp3) which encodes AS1. now, i want to replace AS1 with AS2, where AS2 is encoded also as MP3 (file audio2.mp3). to my understanding, i should demux file1.avi and get VS back into a new file (i don't have the original one any longer) video.avi (no sound, right?) and i should also get audio1.mp3 which i need no more (so i can delete it). once i get this, i remux video.avi (in nandub) with audio2.mp3 (containing the new AS2) to get the new file2.avi having the new soundtrack. could you please describe again what i should do in nandub, using these naming conventions?

If you insist on deleting the original audiostream, just fire up virtualdub-load avi, under audio select no audio, under video select direct stream copy, save avi.Now you have an avi with no audio. Then just merge together with your new audio2.

why save the file without sound before ?
just load the avi in nandub, select the new sound and save the file.
