Once again, I must turn to the giant collective brain that is doom9. It's been over 2 years! I read some of these threads and they blow my mind. I'm such an amateur.
I've been googling and searching doom9 for over an hour and I'm surprised I can't find what I'm looking for. Maybe I'm just looking for the wrong thing. I have HD video shot out of a moving vehicle. Because of the sun hitting dirt on the glass, there's a fixed or very slowly moving pattern of whitish bloom/reduced contrast coupled with very vague reflections. It seems that, because everything else is moving in the picture (very quickly), there must be a way to create a mask that only has this pattern, then have the mask be reversed by selective video processing in those areas. Thus reducing the appearance of the glare. It's kind of like a transparent logo removal, except the logo is slowly moving, is a completely abstract shape, and covers the entire frame! All of the FAQs-type docs about transparent logo removal say you have to at least pre-define a general area for the logo. Also with a logo you couldn't assume everything else in the scene that isn't moving should vanish. That would cause all kind of problems! In this case everything else is moving. OTOH I suspect for these two image regions to be detected requires something horribly complex like DCT or wavelets. Oh well. I leave it to you, giant brain of doom9.
Thanks in advance and apologies in advance if I'm missing something completely obvious. I'm thinking there might be some devious way to couple a deshake filter with some other filters, perhaps temporal noise reduction, but it escapes me.
