Yes you can but it depends on how nicely you ask and whether you offer to pay for beer should we ever visit your town ;)
Keep in mind though - we don't have a policy of removing unused accounts on the books right now, so the username must not already exist, plus we do have other things to do - there's a large number of users and if only a small number wants to make a change, we'll still be busy for days - so there should be some good reason why you need your username changed.

IMHO I think that changing names especially ones who are long time users and also host files and/or threads here causes confusion.
I remember when stax changed his name. wasn't that big of a change but still some people grumbled.

Then I do agree with doom9. If people started to think that it were possible to change it. Where would it stop!

To conclude: If one would like to change their name. I support Doom9 in the need of good cause. I also would support the idea of keeping it private (PM's) so the (Me Too) groupies don't line up.

If a mod could just delete or close this thread, I PMed my reason to doom9 and if it's not good enough I'll just sign up a new account with the username I want. This thread is becoming nothing but a spam/rant thread for everyone to hop on their soap box after doom9 already gave me an answer to my question. The only reason I started it was the fact that I googled and found previous threads where users had gotten a username change. I just unsubscribed from this thread because I got tired of getting e-mails just to find out it is another person complaining about my request. Please everyone, let the moderators do their job and answer, this is not your soapbox thread. If they decline to change my username that is fine, but I don't need everyone else posting to share their opinion of something that doesn't concern them at all.
