Dear all,
since Transport Stream is made for streaming, I don't understand why it seems so difficult to simply cut TS files.
Of course, remuxing TS in another container needs to ensure that everything is synchronized, but cutting should be simply cutting the file.
I have made experiments and cutting a TS file by removing an arbitrary number of 188-bytes chunks results in another file which is for example playable with VLC and which can be reencoded with Handbrake.
Therefore, I think that there could be a TS cutter which has a GUI to help to visually define the cut points (e.g. a GUI similar to ProjectX) and that just uses these cut points to split the file. How is it that I did not find such a tool?
