I recently encoded Magamind for Ipod. And notice the video is very thin. By this I mean the seems to be a lot of black bar at top and bottom of the screen.
When I encode for ipod I usually do leave the screen size untouched nor do I crop. That way at looks fine on the ipod. I find if I crop off the black bars it fills the whole screen with the movie and it looks stretched. Only time does no black bars on my encode look ok is if I play though my computer using FFDShow(). Then it makes it look fine.
So my question is it there a formula I can use to widen the screen have less black bars and the picture look ok? Because even though movie looks fine there is a lot of black bar in it all my other movie encoded do not seem to have this problem.
Is there a way I could crop off the black bars but send MeGUI the picture FFDshow() gives me or something? I hope what am trying to say make sense here. I still want 720x480 but the aspect ratio to look good too.
