What is the best filter/script for remove banding? With good "details" in the source.

The mediawiki lists Gradfun2db (and Gradfunkmirror) as YUY2/RGB compatible. Is something changed? I always thought that it was only YV12 as YUY2/RGB creates some visible artefacts.

To Cloudstrifeff7, were you the one who made a previous but similar thread about removing banding from the anime 'The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya'?

If so...I would like to apologize as you were right afterall, I have gotten myself the Blu-ray and it is indeed quite as you made it out to be, I myself would like to do some filtering to it at 1080p :D

The banding is indeed present in the source. Hard to believe that Kyoto animation would animate it like that, so I believe probably the post production studio screwed up the Blu-Ray mastering.

It's extremely obvious in the first few minutes when Kyon was lying on the ground. Arrrgggg.

It's quite common in animation as postproduction houses most of the times doesn't even know how to handle that material correctly. There are other famous cases that have the same issues. The bad thing is that they create the 'master' so probably all editions around the world will suffer from the same banding problems as the movie will come from the same source.
