View Full Version : Hardware Support ?

I'm encoding using xvid with very good results, but as u know the problem now is to decode. The divx4 decoder give me problems (green/red shit) but I must say that the xvid one is OK, but it doesnt support DShow/Hardware accel.
My questions are :
1)When will be the directx support added ?
2)Can I start doing my movies with the codec (hoping that in the future the xvid decoder will support them) ?
Thanks in advance

? There is a DShow-Filter you can install manually.
I'm sure the future decoders will continue to support your old XviD and DivX4 movies.

The XviD ds filter is faster than DivX4 at the moment, on non-P4 machines anyway.
All it's really lacking is post-processing. I've been wondering about how hard it'd be to slap the ffmpeg post-processing code onto XviD..

Oh..I dunno how to tell then...
The problem is that I encoded a movie at 576*xxx, and when I bring it full screen its like pixels dont smooth; its the same effect as using a resolution not divisible by 16. (I think its the hardware overlay not kicking in), and I got this problem only using the XviD decoder.
Is this the postprocessing u were talking about, or did u mean the
antialiasing level in the codec properties during reproduction ?

that's just what -h said.. the xvid filter has no postprocessing.. you blow up the picture you will see every block much better because it gets blown up and not smoothed in any way (in divx3 and divx4 you have postprocessing so the playback filter will make all blocks and stuff much less visible).. all you can do is either use the divx4 decoder for now or wait for an xvid decoder that supports post-processing

Doom, I'm not speaking about postprocessing ie blocks, but about pixels. Its a resolution problem, cause I think postprocessing can smooth out blocks, but not the resolution, infact in 3.11 I dont use postprocessing at all to have the best crisp image possible, but the 576*xxx doesnt look buzzed as xvid one...(another prove is the fact that using the 4.12 decoder, interpolation lines are ok).
