Ive managed to SVCD a couple of movies - Shrek (2 dics) & Joan of Arc (3 discs) without any problems. I have just tried "Art of War" and the resulting MPG file are over 800mb and thus won't fit on an 80min CD.

I have been using the default settings - what do I need to change to rip this Movie?

Thanks

what did you use to make the svcd?
how big are your files EXACTLY?

I would be using Nero but the file sizes are too big

mpg00 - 817,847
mpg01 - 809,424

I left the PC ripping "tomorrow never dies" and i have three cd images all arround 700mb.

any thoughts???

if you burn as svcd you will be able to fit 800 mb on a 80 min cd so your files are perfectly allright

Im not sure how to get 817mb onto a 80min CDR. Nero insists that there is not enough room...

Im using Memorex CD-r's they are 80mins or 650/700MB.

I still dont see why DVD2SVCD has made the files too large/larger for this movie?

Thanks

take an 80min / 700MB CD-R, choose in nero SVCD and you can write up to 835MB of data as a SVCD.

Am I being really stupid here?

In nero if i create a SVCD it lets me drop in my 800mb MPG file, but when I try and burn it Nero tells me that there is not enough room and ejects the disk. Is this a problem with my writer not allowing overburning????

If you have a recent version of Nero, go to "preferences" under the "file" drop down and click the "advanced" tab. There you can enable Nero's overburning feature.

Thanks for that - I turned on the Overburn option & I now have two CDR disks with the Movie on.

I can't beleive the quality of the SVCD's

I just burned my first SVCD with DVD2SVCD a couple of days ago after messing with a few other programs for about a month. I am very happy with the results... So happy that I made a donation to the author. That's saying something because I am usually a low down software leech :D
