Merging AVIs with VBR mp3

Is it possible to merge two AVIs with VBR mp3 sound ? I tried with Nandub, but I get message "Cannot append segment: The audio streams have different data formats". Both audio streams are encoded using same settings in LAME. I tried with ABR lame encoding but same thing happens.

what you could do is
1. demux both avis to get seperate audio and video
2. append video2 to video1=video3
3. append audio2 to audio1=audio3
4. mux video3 and audio3

There´s a MP3-Version of VirtualDub, but I don´t remember the Homepage... try searching for VirtualDub MP3, I use it for working with my VBR-MP3-Avis, works fine.
