Import dvd initialization only to 58%

Hello, i am using Ulead Video Studio 10 and there have been many times when i try to import the dvd and in the import dvd initialization part it only goes to 58%, after the last three times in a row and me throwing away many dvd+rw's i think it is the program. i tried contacting them but they said they no longer have help for that product.
I have Windows 7 home premium. i5cpu. 650 @ 3.20ghz 3.19 ghz.
4gig ram. 64 bit operating system.
I didn't know if you would need these details.
Is there anything else i can tell you?

Hi!

1) Are you running out of space on your hard drive?

2) Why would you be throwing away rewritable discs?

I have 675gigs left, hardly used any of my space available.
I throw because i have been thinking its the discs, even though they each stop at 58%. I figured there was just something wrong with them.
I've tried a few different brands but am going to stick with verbatim, which i used for awhile with no probs, then had some probs so changed discs and then went back to verbatim. Its the program i think. But i just don't know.

i have bought a new copy of ulead 11 but still has the same probs.

maybe it's the drive - if it's too old and it was mainly used to burn small quantities of data on disks, it might be that the hardened grease clogged the rail.
