View Full Version : First pass file 2GB after short time... why?

I have recently tried to tell my friend how to encode movies with nandub but he looked at the temp file and said that it was 2 gigs with hours left. Why has this happened. I haven't had a problem with that when I do my movies. Is there a way that he can avoid that?

the First pass file size doesnt mean anthing thing. it wont be stored on your computer, ndub just uses it to determine where to put kf, adjust drf and stuff like that

Just install divx3.11alpha and get rid of any VKI or other (like 3.2x) stuff... It should help.

Umm.. I'm not being crude... I know the size doesn't matter for the first pass but he will probably end up with an out of hard drive space error won't he?

he shouldnt, since the AVI file is not saved to the HD. It is an estimated file size, at the settings you have selected.

It's a typical error when you have shitty VKI codec installed. Nandub doesn't like anything besides plain divx3.11

Ok thank you for your help everyone... One last question...

When doing the second pass I put the stats screen up and I always notice that there is something called deviation under the file size.

What exactly is it? If the file size says 807.4MB and the deviation is +104.2MB does that mean that the file size will actually be 807.4-104.2? If so why not just put file size = 703.2MB?
