View Full Version : DVSD format to DivX: Help Needed

Hi,

I just got a JVC miniDV. After I used VirtualDub or Ulead Videostudio
to transfer the content to my hard disk, I found that the file is a
.avi file. It can be played, the format is "DVSD".
However, when I tried to load it into VirtualDub for converting to
DivX, VirtualDub refused to do so, saying that I need a "video for
windows" compatible codec because it couldn't locate the decompressor
of "dvsd" format.
I searched all the forums and couldn't find any answer.

Could anyone give me some suggestions? Or just tell me what to do.

Thank you very much.

P.S. I have Adobe premiere 6.0 installed, but I like VirtualDub.

You will have to add a DV codec like the one from Mainconcept. They have a demo. Install it and you will be able to open your dv-avi.

DDogg, thanks a lot. I will try.

DDogg, I installed the DV codec and it worked. Thanks a lot!

Because my JVC only outputs Type 1 format, VirtualDub cannot handle

the audio stream. I think I have to try other software.

BTW, when I tried to use Decomb to deinterlace, "Convert to YUY2"

seemed not worked.
