I have this slight fluctuant crackling when using MPC Audio Renderer (WASAPI). I was wondering if this is something I could fix. I'm on Win 7 x64, all enhancements disabled in the sound properties, ffdshow audio decoder, connect to set to "any filter".

Is your soundcard Realtek? (edit: or SoundMAX/Analog Devices)
I often get stuttering of sound when I pause.

The MPC Audio Renderer is worse then alpha quality, i do not recommend using it to anyone. If you want WASAPI, get ReClock.

LOL, well I was using it for a while, but recently went back to DirectSound.

Are you using ffdshow? You can try playing on the output page->Output format...
Try uncheck everything except 16 bit integer. If that solve the problem, then add back one by one. I had this problem before. It was because the DAC can't handle higher bit, and without DirectSound, nothing will do the conversion to make it compatible.
