I read the faqs, and I'm really new to this, I've read several faqs on different websites but havn't found a straigh answer. This is the situation:

I have 9 VOB files (downloaded them months ago) containing the well known THX and DD trailers you see in the theatres. The contain an AC3 audio stream, but I only have the VOB files, no IFO files thus.

I want to get these, ac3 track intact, to vcd or svcd format, so I can play them on my standalone dvd player and amplifier.

Is this possible at all, and if so can smeone point me in the right direction.

Greets,

Ara

It is possible to convert it to vcd/svcd, but you will loose your DD 5.1 soundtrack. Sound will be in the .mp2 format. Open your .vob file in DVD2AVI, save project (you will get a .d2v and .ac3 files), convert .ac3 to .mp2, frameserve d2v to CCE or TMPG (you can use Gknot to save .avs file needed for frameserving), convert it, multiplex with audio, make image and burn (or burn directly, without making image, in Nero)....This is just to give an idea...Read guides concerning svcd creation and other.
take care

Is there no way to retain the DD5.1 track at all ?

No, not for (S)VCD.

Do you want to put these trailers in front of a movie or just watch them as they are. If the second is true you could create a MiniDVD. I'm no expert on this, so I advise you to look/ask in the appropriate forum.
