did anyone work out how to make mplayer playback a BD (unencrypted in a folder on a hdd) with the newest build from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mplayer-win32/files/ ?
I tried a bunch of combinations with bd://, -dvd-device, -bd-device, -bluray-device but didn't get it to work. :(

Never tried on Windows, but in principle:
mplayer -bluray-device <path to folder that contains BDMV> bd://<title number>
To figure out the title number, look for the largest file in BDMV/STREAM
Of course you need a KEYDB.cfg in the appropriate place, the error message will tell you where it looks for it.

mplayer -bluray-device "d:\TESTBD\BDMV" bd://1
results in:
Playing bd://1.
File not found: 'd:\TESTBD\BDMV/AACS/Unit_Key_RO.inf'
Failed to open d:\TESTBD\BDMV/AACS/Unit_Key_RO.inf.
Cannot open file d:\TESTBD\BDMV/AACS/Unit_Key_RO.inf to get UK and DiscID
Failed to open bd://1.
No message about a KEYDB.cfg. :((+ I got no AACS folder; I thought both would only be there if the BD was encrypted)

Uh, unencrypted BDs officially do not exist.
Also, you can just play the appropriate .m2ts file in BDMV/STREAM, the only thing you miss compared to bd:// is the language names for subtitles and audio tracks.
Otherwise you might get additional features with a MPlayer version compiled with libbluray support and using bluray:// to play. That currently only supports unencrypted data. I never tried it myself so no idea about how it works.

the x264 Demo BD doesn't exist? one can't author a bd and save the structur?

which is a pain if the .mpls stretches over multiple files,..

afaik the latest build from http://sourceforge.net/projects/mplayer-win32/files/ was compiled with libbluray,...

That totally explains why your post doesn't help in regard to my problem.

Sure you can, but by my knowledge of the specification it's not a Blu-ray then...

Ok, never had that case, but bd:// can't handle that either. You want br:// or bluray:// then. You should be able to see from the error message if libbluray support was compiled in.

No, it just means I can't help you much getting bluray:// to work, but now that you said what you actually want, I can tell you that Blu-ray support via bd:// is completely irrelevant to _you_ and trying to get it to work is a waste of time.

Okay, than I totally don't get the point on the mplayer homepage that states: "Support for unencrypted Blu-ray playback through libbluray."

ARGH! Yes, that's why I am trying to tell you to use the libbluray support by using br:// or bluray:// (which is the part I have never tested). But you have been using bd:// which does _not_ use libbluray and which does _not_ have the features _you_ want (but which I _have_ used)!

Okay, thanks for clearing that up.

Small question: Is there a way to play a specific .mpls Playlistfile with MPlayer aside from first figuring out which title matches to which mpls?

I think you wanted either the MPC-HC or MPC-BE thread, not MPlayer, which is a completely unrelated player.
APOLOGIZE! :o
I am confused with MPHC.

Tried a match mpls to mplayer title, by first creating a mplayerTitle<>length mapping (using mplayer output) and a mpls<>length mapping (using mediaInfo) and then matching one against the other, problem is that often multiple title have the same length (chapter, subtitle audio count).
-> Does anyone know if mplayer can tell me which mpls belongs to which title?
