View Full Version : TS File Frame Joiner suggestions request (Hopefully Drag and Drop)

Hi,

I was hoping someone knows of a program that allows you to join frames easily from two TS files.

The reason I ask is I have bought a Hauppauge HD-PVR to transfer content from SkyHD to my PC to watch.

The problem is that constantly it is dropping frames in the transfer from the SkyHD hard drive to the PC.

The dropped frames are always a near fraction of a second long, so I am getting blue flashes constantly during playback.

What I would like is after transfering the program/film twice to the PC so I have two TS files of the same thing (but both will have the frame drops at different places)

I would like to then drag and drop the good frames from one of the two TS files into those dropped frames of the other TS file so I result in one perfect TS file.

Is there any applications, free or retail that can do this easily?

Or is there any other method to achieve what I am after.

Thanks

You can use ProjectX http://www.watchersnet.de/Downloads/tabid/53/rrcid/2/rrscid/8/rreid/345/rrpid/1/rrepp/10/Default.aspx to both concatenate the 2 files and at the same time clean up transmission errors which you description seems to indicate - I'm assuming that the broadcast files are mpeg2 video plus audio (AC3 or mpa etc) - If the video is H264 then ProjectX won't help.

You can select either, preferably Demux or "To TS". Demux mode is far more effective in cleaning up transmission errors and audio timing issues and given your description I would try demux first.

You can remux the video and audio in MPEGStreamclip.

Check my wiki for settings - see under my sig

Yes the are unfortunately X264 files in the TS container; they are HD from connecting via component.

Have you tried My MP4Box GUI it seems to open TS files. The 3D demo in Australia used H264 rather than MPEG2 as everything else is and those files opened ok.

although there's probably a way to get files off the hd-pvr without them becoming corrupt.

To your original question: there was once a similar project started, a thread here at doom9 too, don't know what happened next.

However, there shouldn't be dropped frames in the first place, provided the reception was good enough and the transmission was properly decoded. So check first the reception, then the copy procedure, there are chipsets for USB/FW that are not compatible with some mainboards or external enclosures. There's an excellent tool, called TS-Doctor (now shareware, 29€) that can correct the streams for you.

ProjectX cannot do HD streams.

Just for the record ProjectX can do Australian Digital HDTV streams ie MPEG2 @ 50fps nominal bit rate 24 Mbps. There is a setting in Presettings Video tab but still no use for H264
