This is my first post as I have a problem that has defeated me. From a .vob DVD, I encoded a .mp4 video file with XviD and Nero AAC audio. The playback sync issue is only a problem using QuickTime player, VLC and other media players work just fine; no sync issues. The reason why I need it to work using the QuickTime player is because I want to show the video to a couple of friends in the virtual world of Second Life (http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Category:LSL_Video), which uses the QuickTime codec for displaying videos.
I posted the mp4 video here so people can see what i'm talking about:

The problem arises when you open QuickTime, or try to watch online via QuickTime player. As soon as you press play the audio is out of sync, but if you pause the video and press play again, the sync is fine. Also if you move to another part of the video that fixes the sync as well, it just appears that when you first load the video the sync is out? I don't understand myself why that would be the case.
I tried everything from using a different video codec, changing to CBR audio, slicing the video down to 10minutes, everything I tried within the realms of the mp4 container hasn't made a difference. I'm really baffled.
Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Can you post a sample rather than the whole 870mb file?
What program did you use to create the MP4, or to mux the audio and video into an MP4 file?

I tried two different methods to mux the audio and video into an MP4.
1. The 3ivx MP4 Media Muxer in GraphEdit
2. MeGUI's MP4 Muxer
Both had the same problem with audio sync.

Posting a MediaInfo file report (in full) would be useful too?

Hmm I just realized i'm getting the same audio sync problem with all videos using QuickTime player now, even ones which worked fine in the past. I never used to have this problem. I wonder what's changed?
Glad to know there's nothing wrong with the encode, but still just as frustrating.
EDIT: Looks like i'm not the only one having this problem http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2650113&start=0&tstart=0

From what I remember... When you install 3ivx, its splitter and decoder takes over some of Quicktime players functionality.
I suggest you try removing 3ivx or playing your .MP4 file on another computer without 3ivx installed.
That said. I have found, Quicktime player seems much happier playing MPEG-4 AVC + AAC-LC in .MP4 encoded files.

I was having the same problem with MPEG-4 AVC encodes, but after deleting iTunes the problem is fixed. Amazing what crap they can make these days, the obvious mistake was installing iTunes on my machine.
