Hi all!
I just ran into a big problem with VirtualDub 1.4.7. Following Doom9's guides (kickass guides and site, btw... the best, but enough of this:)), I created a DVD2AVI project file, converted it by the VFAPI reader, and loaded it into Virtual Dub. It's the film Chocolat, so it's around 1h57min, and I used several bitrate calculators to get a target bitrate. This happens to be 2300 (but I've tried other values as well). So after applying the resize filter (precise bilinear, to 640x352) and setting the target bitrate in Divx4.12), I started to encode it. When it was done, I ended up with a file almost half as big as I wanted it to be. (I wanted the rip to fit on 3x700 mb with sound, just to know how it looks), so I wanted a file about 1900 mb (w ac3 sound), and the final no-sound avi was about only 1,1G or so. The quality is something you expect from 2 cds and not three:)), it's similar to the 2cd-dominion rip. I did this 3 times, no significant change. If you do 2300*117*60/8, you get a file slightly over 2 Gigs. So how come Vdub's output file is so small? Any ideas?
note1: the same process worked fine for some rips I did before.
note2: sorry if this was discussed before, I couldn't read all the topics:))
note3: I almost forgot: 2-pass mode, as described in Doom9's guide
note3: me no speak english... sorry if unintelligible :>
