Just browsed the 10bit pdf's from x264.nl and liked what i've seen

My input is Format : RGB
Codec ID : RGB
Codec ID/Info : Uncompressed RGB32
Duration : 7s 958ms
Bit rate : 1 593 Mbps
Width : 1 920 pixels
Height : 1 080 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 16/9
Frame rate : 24.000 fps
Resolution : 32 bits
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 32.001

Would i benefit from encoding to 10bit with this source ?

Are there any free decoders ?

AVIsource("D:\x264\movie.avi")
Crop(0, height%2, -width%2, 0)
ConvertToYV12()

start "encode" /b /low /wait "%mypath%\bin\x26410bit.exe" --pass 1 --profile high10 --preset veryslow --level 4.1 --bitrate 8000 --stats "%mypath%\%mpath%\T1\movie.stats" --ref 3 --bframes 3 --sar 1:1 --aud

thnx.

(1) RGB32 is RGB with 8-Bit per channel (the 8-Bit for the fourth "alpha" channel are usually unused). Still even 8-Bit content might benefit from 10-Bit encoding precision.

(2) H.264 decoders with support for "high bit-depth" are still very rare. AFAIK there's no OpenSource decoder freely available at this time (maybe the H.264 reference decoder works, but it will be slow)
