Hi there.

Could someone please take a look at these profiles and tell me what I shall do to get this:

I'd be glad if someone could help me figuring out what I have where to change to get the same as the file above (since this one is played well in all of my hardware).

Also I'd like to ask if someone can hint me to fill the gaps of my try (http://npshare.de/files/96222d20/x264_profiles.jpg) (big filesize, so I prefer not to post as image) to "translate" Mediainfo to x264-setting in Megui.

Thanks in advance!

Some players don't like files muxed by AVI-Mux GUI with OpenDML and/or rec lists enabled. Try remuxing without those settings or with VirtualDub.

Thanks for the fast reply.

So in fact I won't be able to get an intact avi with Megui since it is just muxing with Avi-Mux Gui? In that case I wouldn't mind remuxing them manually but is there no other solution than VirtualDub for just doing that? I'd prefer to not have 2 seperated programs - one for Xvid and one for x264. In fact that's the reason I'm trying to get the first encoding-profile transcriptet to Megui; this program is not supported anymore and for VirtualDub, I used it a long time ago just for XVids but never really liked it. Actually I wouldn't even care to use Megui but xvid-encraw per command line, but I like the feature of Megui to queue several jobs with independent profiles and start them over night with pc-shutdown at the end. Maybe someone already made a batch-file for this case?

I guess I drifted away a bit, so to get back to topic, I've read there is a possibility of using ffmpeg from the command line to mux A/V-Streams. Could someone explain me this please:
/Applications/ffmpegX.app/Contents/Resources/ffmpeg -i /Users/username/Desktop/original-video.avi -vcodec copy -i
/Users/username/Desktop/additionalaudio.mp3 -acodec copy -i /Users/username/Desktop/original-audio.mp3 -acodec copy -f avi /Users/username/Desktop/output.avi -newaudio

Since I don't work much with shells, how do I start this? Open a cmd-window, get to the location C:\Programms\Megui\tools\ffmpeg, start the ffmpeg.exe and then type in this line above or do I just have to exchange "/Applications/ffmpegX.app/Contents/Resources/ffmpeg" with "C:\Programms\Megui\tools\ffmpeg" and can start from what shell ever? Also I don't get the idea of the -newaudio since I only want to mux the streams. Is it necessary?

In addition: would this change the OpenDML/rec settings?

Thanks.

The files are fine, but some players don't support them. I do not know if that is true for your player, but it is the first thing I'd check before fiddling further with the xvid settings.

In that case I wouldn't mind remuxing them manually but is there no other solution than VirtualDub for just doing that?

I haven't seen an option for changing the avi muxing behavior in MeGUI, so remuxing with an extra program might be your only option. (But test first whether the muxing really is the problem before looking further into this.)

You can open a cmd window, cd into the desktop and then enter
C:\Programms\Megui\tools\ffmpeg\ffmpeg.exe -i original-video.avi -vcodec copy -i original-audio.mp3 -acodec copy -f avi output.avi

Also I don't get the idea of the -newaudio since I only want to mux the streams. Is it necessary?

No, it's not. I've thus omitted it in my example above.

I won't vouch for ffmpeg's avi muxing capabilities though, because I've heard people say it's somewhat broken. I cannot verify these claims.

:thanks:Thanks a lot, man! It really was the muxing-problem. This ffmpeg-code did work at least on my testfile, but now I'm just a little unsure about what you said about being broken. The threads google hint me to are seeming to only say there are problems of TS-muxing. But I would only mux the avi and mp3 that I get from the Megui-encodes. So if it plays once correctly, can I assume that there will be no further issues?

In life only death is certain, but I must admit that I was as unsuccessful as you in finding information on what I recalled to be a problem, so maybe ffmpeg is just fine after all.

Thanks a lot. Meanwhile I managed to write a batch file that is working so far:

@ECHO OFF

C:\your\path\to\xvid_encraw -pass1 "C:\your\path\to\store\Temp\video.log" [optional encoding settings] -i "C:\your\path\to\video.avs" -o NUL

C:\your\path\to\xvid_encraw -pass2 "C:\your\path\to\Temp\video.log" [optional encoding settings] -i "C:\your\path\to\video.avs" -avi "C:\your\path\to\store\Temp\videostream.avi"

C:\your\path\to\ffmpeg -i C:\your\path\to\originalvideo.mp4 -vn -acodec libmp3lame -ab 128k C:\your\path\to\store\Temp\audiostream.mp3

C:\your\path\to\ffmpeg -i C:\MyVideos\Temp\videostream.avi -vcodec copy -i C:\your\path\to\Temp\audiostream.mp3 -acodec copy -f avi C:\your\path\to\store\finalmuxedvideo.avi

ECHO Y | DEL C:\your\path\to\Temp\*.*

EXIT

But with that I'm only getting a Joint Stereo Audio. Since I heard that for Standalones a Real Stereo is required I played around with -ac 0/1/2/3/4 but only -ac 1 (Mono) and -ac 2 (Joint Stereo) are working. 0 leeds to crash ffmpeg and 3 and 4 gives some error of false parameter choice. So I want to ask if there really is no possibility to get a real Stereo out of ffmpeg and if that's the case, how can I get it? lame.exe doesn't seem to accept other input than wmv. The original audio will probably only have aac or maybe ac3. Your help is very appreciated. Thanks.

I've yet to come across a standalone player that does not support joint stereo, so I would stick with it.

So this is no longer a requirement for standalones? Glad to hear that. Many thanks for your help.

edit: Now that I think about it what do you think are the best audio converting CLIs (not a Gui - I need it for a more effective batch for encoding more than one video automatically)? I don't really have to stick with ffmpeg for that if there are better ones. I heard about BeSweet but the Developer seems not to work on it any more and since there are always so many changes I'd like to try one that probably will get along with pretty much of at least the next 2-3 years if possible, meaning it should be able to not only handle future changes to wmv, ac3, aac and mp3 but also e.g. FLAC or ogg.

edit 2: Okay, just found a better way to handle it:

C:\your\path\to\ffmpeg -i C:\your\path\to\originalvideo.mp4 -vn -f wav - | C:\your\path\to\lame.exe -m s -b 128 -q 2 - C:\your\path\to\store\Temp\audiostream3.mp3

With that pipe I can change to other converting tools, too and now I have all the options of lame for that example.
:thanks:

Good question, the most popular at the moment seems to be eac3to (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=125966), since it handles the new lossless formats introduced with the Blu-Ray, but it may not be 100% fitted for your task, since it cannot read mp4 containers (but EVO/VOB/(M2)TS and MKV), so you would need to demux the audio tracks first. I'm not that fit in batching that I would be of great helping writing a script to automate a X to mp3 conversion for arbitrary input files.
Maybe someone else can help?
