Hi, I have an x264 .mkv, it has DTS/AC3 audio but my tv doesnt support it
What would be the recommeded (easiest?) way to convert the audio to a supported format, andd remux (if required)
My TV's supported audio codecs are;
Dolby Digital,HEAAC,AAC,MPEG,MP3,LPCM (for mkv)
Dolby Digital,MPEG,MP3,LPCM (mpg2)
Thanks in advance

Dolby Digital is ac3. For DTS I would use Nero AAC.

I get Audio Unsupported when trying to play it back (used every option in mkv2vob for audio)
I've never dealth with high quality audio before, so forgive me if I'm way off the mark....
Split audio with vitrualdub
Creates .wav
Convert .wav to .mp4 using Nero AAC codec.
Remux using ????
Thanks for your advice Gsar.

You can use mkvmerge GUI (http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/) to mux the video and audio back together. (On your first start go into options and tick "disable header removal compression for audio and video tracks by default", as most players can't handle this compression)
Be aware that most hardware players will only output stereo for multi channel aac tracks. Might be better to check other users of your hardware if they can get "dolby digital"/"ac3" to work, in case you want to keep the 5.1 sound.

Rebox.net will do everything for you.

Why do you need to reconvert the MKV back into DVD (I assume you have the DVD)?
I still have to hear a TV that does accept user files and does not accept AC-3 (sometimes multichanel is a problem).

I don't, mk2vob waas initially recommended to me for changing the audio. I wanted to load it to my passport hard drive for portability / space reasons. Streaming isnt an option to do no media server.
rebox.net worked a treat, thanks!
Also thanks to everyone else who provided information, I learned alot about HD formats, not really done anything A/V wise for ~7 years.
