I tried playing it with MPC-HC using Haali Media Splitter and CoreAVC decoder.

The video seems defective. After a couple of proper frames it gets distorted and skips to around 7 minute, again plays for a few seconds and skips to another time interval, etc.
The whole sequence is reproducible.

The audio (AC-3) is fine at any time.

I've already played similar videos without any problem (Athlon 64 1.8 GHz).

So the question is if the video is broken (it probably is) and whether I can fix it somehow.

Looking forward to your advice.

Regards

Try MKVToolNix and MKVCleaver. Once they're both installed use MKVCleaver to extract the audio and video streams to your hard drive. Then use MKVMergeGUI to mux the streams back into a fresh MKV. If the problem still exists then I guess the video stream itself is broken.
