It appears something is interfering with FFDSHOW. I'd recommend you try uninstalling HAALI, FFDSHOW, and reinstalling them.

@jdobbs
Does the following create a conflict problem?
- WIN7 preferred VC-1 CODEC: Ok
- FFDSHOW VC-1 set to "wmv9", Ok
Should the FFDShow VC-1 option be set to "Disable"?

I uninstalled both ffdshow and Haali, deleted the leftover folder for ffdshow, restarted, and installed both again - but different versiosn, since I couldn't remember where i found the other ones. Now it's telling me that I don't have the preferred versions of both programs. I have no idea where i found the other versions...

Hi!
Unless something has changed, Post #1 of this thread has links for all of the necessary programs...

Ah. Found 'em. And my ffdshow audio wasn't set as listed in the Bug Report thread.
However, i still get:

Oy, this is getting annoying. I've never had any issues with getting DVD-RB to run in the past, adn the only rason i bought a BR burner now is to back up my movies. :(

Well i gave it a shot, anyway. No go. I'll try slapping my burner in my enclosure and see if i can get it goign in my laptop. Not that i'll use it to do the work, but to reference the settings on my desktop.

About all I can recommend is that you uninstall other video-related packages until you find the one that is screwing up the CODEC or the processing. I'd also recommend that you download a newer version. There have been 3 newer releases since v0.36.09.

Oops, i thought i had the newest one.. boy do i feel silly. I wouldn't have even posted had a noticed i wasn't using the newset one... but it still didn't help. I had CoreAVC and Madvr installed - no change. tried a coupel otehr FFDSHOW versiosn - no go.Quite odd. I guess I'll have to use someone elses' computer to do this, and try again after my next format. Sure is annoying, though. And of course, i tried a different disc.
thanks for the help, all.
I've now also tried AVCHDCoder and it, too, it giving me an encoding error. Clearly, somethign is wonky with my software. Though I've looked twice and i have absolutely NO other codecs or other video editing software installed other than what's required for BD-RB.
This sucks.

Just a quick update.
I just tried Rebuilding Dark Knight again on a new install and hardware, and it worked!
Although the resulting BD-25 image was too large to burn, but I read that using the CRF settings has a chance of doing that.
Why can i not output the result to an .ISO?
PS - it only took 1 hour, 37 minutes.
Intel 2600k at 4.5ghz, 8gb DDR3.

Okay now that it's done, and plays fine on my LG BD555c, i have a new issue. This has happened twice; With both recent Batman movies.
I selected "Full Backup" in RB, yet i have no menus whatsoever on either movie. It doens't go to a menu on startup, and hitting the Menu button on my remote makes my BR player say its an invalid function.
Does BD-RB not encode menus?

Does BD-RB not encode menus? When you do a full backup, menus are included in the output (as would be implied by "full backup"). Did you go to a BD-25? Some players won't accept full backups on a DVD-5/9.

Yes. Target Size BD-25. Encoder settings to Automatic. Quicker Encode for extras.
Is there anything in the Setup options that may affect the menus?
Inspect.exe says everything is peachy, both movies encoded quickly, and both play without issue, and look and sound fantastic. I thought perhaps the player was just being fussy about the menu, but I loaded the outputed folders AND the burnt discs with PowerDVD and the Menu options are still unavailable.
I double-checked that i was indeed using Full Backup, and even gave Dark Knight another go. Still no menu.
Oh, and I am using v0.37.07

Oh, and I am using v0.37.07 I'm not sure what to say. By now I have to have done somewhere in the neighborhood of a couple thousand encodes (although I'm admittedly not counting) -- and have never had that happen. I also can't remember any reports where it has happened. There was an IGS problem at one point in which the menu came up but the buttons didn't work, But in fact, now in most cases the menus are kept completely intact (they aren't processed at all).
If there is a problem with the menu -- how is the movie playing? Are you positive the original doesn't have the same behavior? There are discs that go straight to the movie and only show a menu when you call it up.

I insert the movie, and it starts right at the beginning of the film. I too, thought it was the 'straight to the movie' behaviour, but the Disc Menu function is disabled, and doesn't show up on my computer, either. It certainly does on the original discs... I'
ll fiddle around with it later tonight, and try some other flicks. Heh, maybe 'Movie Only' will give me menus. Or perhaps a config file doesn't match what's selected in the GUI.
thanks.

I have to believe you did a movie-only encode by mistake. Movies that are meant to start with a menu can't just "jump" to the movie if the menu is missing. The logic wouldn't even know how to do it without the instructions from the pre/post commands of the menu. A disc without a menu would stop working completely.

No, I was sure to check the Full Backup every time i started an encode. But, I jsut started another after clicking Movie only, then clicking Full backup again. What is teh line in the .ini for that option? Mode=? Well I will update in a bit..
But i certainly don't blame you for thinking that. That was MY first guess, that i hit Movie Only at some point. Well, if this third attempt doesn't give me menus, I'll see what Movie-Only gives me.

@jpiles I jsut started another after clicking Movie only, then clicking Full backup again. Why are you first clicking "Movie only" if you want to make a full disc copy?

Are you doing batch backups? Sometimes that can cause confusion, because if you had movie-only selected at the point you added a job to the queue, it would make no difference whether you changed it to "Full Backup" later -- the backup would be movie-only.

Oh i just thought maybe the config was set at Movie-only, but not reflected in the GUI, that's al.
Well, i just gave it another attempt, and still no menu. Yes, i triple-checked that Full Backup was selected.
Here's my .ini, perhaps you can see soemthign in it that's the problem:

No, no batches.
EDIT: Well i just tried Inception. Same result.
EDIT 2: Okay weird. I slapped Inception into my BR player, no menu. Menu button on remote does nothing. However, i jumped to teh END of the movie, and after it plays all the credits, etc., the menu shows up, and works as it should. I play from the menu, but cannot get back to the menu unless i get to it from teh end credits again. This also occurs with Batman Begin and The Dark Knight. So, the menus ARE there, (along with FBI warning, trailers, Extras, etc.) but I can only access it from the end of the film.
I also tried updating my player, but it already has the latest firmware.

What software and procedures are you using to backup the original commercial Blu-ray discs?
Have you checked your backups to see if they play properly?

I have question for OP. What program you used to rip the disc to harddrive maybe program messed the disc structure.

AnyDVD HD alone for one, AnyDVD HD + Imgburn for the others. At the moment I'm just ripping straight from the disc. Boy, am i glad i have the new CPU for this.
It's a mixed bag; PowerDVD doesn't want to play any. MPC-HC plays Inception fine, with menu, but both Batman movies behave like the resulting burns did, with no menu showing, playing, or even available. Oy.
