View Full Version : Out of practice, tools for Blu-Ray --> x264

Hello all,

I'm not actually a newbie per se, but have been very much out of touch with the latest and the greatest in blu-ray to x264 techniques... I know that the way I used to do it was long, so new tools and techniques would be helpful, especially to reduce the prep time prior to encoding. So this is what I'm familiar with:

AnyDVDHD --> HD-DVD/Blu-Ray Stream Extractor
--> DGAVCIndex --> AviSynth --> meGUI.

Also, I have a ATI 4670 GFX card, so any tools to offload from the CPU to the GFX could be useful as well.

I've been a long time Doom9 member and reader, but in order for me to catch up it would take forever by myself... so in hopes that somebody knowledgable that would be kind enough to untangle the information quickly, it would be really appreciated!

Cheers,

Steve

Maybe BDtoAVCHD http://www.connecta2000.com/BDtoAVCHD/?lang=en would make your life simplier?

Blurip, Staxrip, Ripbot264 and HDConvertToX all automate your processing chain ;) No harm on installing all and seeing which is most intuitive to you (I prefer Blurip due to quick prep time - no waiting for demux before selecting encode settings, it's ability to read direct from disc - so no "rip to HDD" step and its ability to queue a few jobs very quickly - no need to demux each project first) ;)

Thanks for all the answers all... as it turns out, I am currently trying out Blurip, and so far it has been working... I am trying 1 out first, to see how it will turn out, but should everything be OK I look forward to being able to do batch processing, as I have a LOT of backlog :p

Thanks for the answers all.

I personally have fallen in love with Staxrip. I've used it for DVDs and Blurays. I have already purchased AnyDVDHD, so I use that, but I know many who swear by MakeMKV as well.
